Eligibility Criteria

BE Degree Course

  • A pass in 2nd year PUC or 10+2 equivalent examination recognized by the university with 45% marks in aggregate in physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the subject i.e. chemistry, Biology, Computer science & Electronics. In case of SC/ST & OBC students, the minimum percentage in the said optional subjects shall be 40%
  • For lateral entry admission to 3rd semester, the candidates who are diploma holders shall secure 45% and in case of SC/ST/OBC the minimum percentage is 40% in the final year (5th & 6th sem) diploma examination.
  • 45 % of the intake will be filled by common entrance test (CET) conducted by Karnataka Examination authority on merit cum reservation basis, based on the rank obtained by students.
  • 30% of the intake will be filled by the COMED-K test conducted by private colleges association of Karnataka purely on merit basis as per the ranks obtained in the test.
  • 25% of the intake will be filled by the management on the basis of CET/COMED-K ranks.


  • The candidates who possess a bachelor degree of minimum 3 years as recognized by the university and have passed the examination with not less than 50% of marks in aggregate of all the 3 years of the degree.
  • 50% of the seats will be filled by the government through the PGCET on the basis of ranks obtained. The university will conduct the said test normally during JUNE of every year and allot seats to colleges on merit basis
  • 50% of the seats will be filled by the management on the basis of rank obtained in any of the entrance test conducted by PGCET, KMAT, and G MAT etc.


Rules and Regulations


  • No student will be allowed inside the class beyond 8:30 am for the forenoon session and beyond 1:30 pm for the afternoon session
  • Late comers will be allowed to enter the classroom only after getting permission from the Head of the Departments/Principal.
  • Attendance for each student will be totaled at the end of every month and indicated in the progress report and on the notice board.
  • 85% attendance is compulsory for University examination. Students who do not satisfy the attendance will not be allowed to appear for the University examinations.
  • Leave of absence will have to be obtained from the Principal in advance for valid reasons. In case of sickness, a medical certificate should accompany the leave application
  • Attendance shall be calculated on hourly basis i.e., in terms of each lecture period.
  • Attendance at the examinations & weekly tests is compulsory; absence during the tests will affect the sectional marks of the students.
  • A student of UG/PG classes will be given 3 library books. It will be issued only against the submission of ID card; Students can keep the books for 10 days at a time.
  • The books should be returned on or before the due date, a fine will be charged per day for returning the book late.
  • The students should attend laboratories and workshop with prescribed uniform.
  • Students will be issued digital identity card which they have to produce for using library facilities and also produce whenever the authorities insists for identification. They should wear the ID card while in campus strictly.
  • No outsider should be invited to preside over, address or otherwise take part in a meeting or gathering in the college, without the Principal´s prior permission.
  • Students are not allowed to organize or attend any meeting in the institution without getting the prior permission from the principal, students attending classes, meeting of the college or other functions are expected to be neatly dressed.
  • If any damage is caused to any of the property of college by any student /group of students, the cost of the same will be recovered from the particular student/group of students as fine.
  • Students should abstain from any sort of participation in party or communal politics. Students who indulge in political propaganda or who organize fellow students in political factions in the premises of the college or who otherwise engage themselves in party politics are liable to be expelled from the college and hostel.
  • Students should drive their vehicles carefully and slowly not exceeding the speed limit of 10 km/hr within college campus. The vehicles should be parked only at the specified parking area.
  • Students shall not carry mobile phones within SVIT Classroom/Corridors. If found violating, students will face stiff fine/ confiscation/ other disciplinary measures.
  • RAGGING - (A Short time enjoyment, lifetime Suffering) Ragging in any form is prohibited in and around the campus and hostels. Action will be initiated against students indulging in ragging, undesirable and unethical activities as per Government rules and regulations. Anyone who directly or indirectly commits, participates in abets or propagates "RAGGING" within or outside any educational institution shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years and shall be liable to a fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees. "Any student involved in ragging will be convicted of an offence and shall be liable for rustication from the institution".
