Candidates seeking admission to the undergraduate engineering programs must have passed the 10+2 pattern of examination (equivalent to the two-year Pre-University course in Karnataka) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. In addition, candidates must have studied Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or Electronics as one of the optional subjects in the qualifying examination.
The minimum eligibility requirement is 45% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination for candidates belonging to the General Category. For candidates from SC/ST, Category-1, and OBC categories, a relaxation is provided, with a minimum requirement of 40% aggregate marks. If a candidate has secured lower marks in Chemistry, the marks obtained in Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or Electronics may be considered in place of Chemistry for determining eligibility, though not for rank calculation.
Admissions are carried out through recognized entrance examinations conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) and COMEDK. Candidates must qualify in the respective entrance examinations and participate in the prescribed counseling process to secure admission to the engineering programs.
Deserving students are eligible to avail various scholarships offered by the Government of Karnataka. Details and application forms for these scholarships can be obtained from the Admission and Scholarship Section during the month of August every year.
