Total Number of Registrations: 150+

More than 150 participants are registered for the webinar and more than 100 Participants

actively participated from various Industry professional’s/ Faculty member’s/ Research scholars/

students from many reputed institutions were witnessed the webinar. The webinar started at

10:00 AM with formal Welcome followed by brief introduction about the speaker, Dr. Arjun

Shetty by Sourabh V Bhat, Student, Department of ECE. Dr.Arjun Shetty is a Postdoctoral

Fellow at the Institute for Quantum Computing, University of Waterloo, Canada. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Science in the area of III nitride semiconductors. His thesis involved the development of Schottky diodes and photodetectors using III-nitride thin films and nanostructures which were grown using molecular beam epitaxy.

Post his Ph.D., Arjun worked as a Sr. Device Engineer at Sandisk India Device Design Centre,

Bangalore for two years. His work at SanDisk was focussed on silicon NAND flash memory

device reliability. After that, he moved to his present position at the University of Waterloo. He is currently working on III-As nanowire photodetectors and undoped AlGaAs/GaAs

heterostructure devices for quantum applications. His research interests broadly span III-V

semiconductors, optoelectronic devices, low dimensional quantum transport and semiconductor device modelling. The webinar was organized by IEEE Student Branch, & Department of ECE. Institute would also like acknowledge Dr Narayan .K Dean (R&D) Sincere efforts in organizing this webinar. The speaker started with the basic introduction of nanotechnology giving the relatable examples and explaining the various concepts and terminologies associated with the same. He later moved on to explaining the concepts of bottom up approach, top down approach, IR Photodetectors and NW photodetector device fabrication and characterization. He also progressed on to throwing light at problems of using IR Photodetector and then concluded with a motivation for students to take it up as the field of research.
