Energy Efficient Solutions for Commercial Kitchen Ventilation

ASHRAE Student Chapter SVIT Bengaluru in association with ASHRAE Bangalore chapter had organized an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecture program on “Energy Efficient Solutions for Commercial Kitchen Ventilations” for ISHRAE and ASHRAE Student Members of Mechanical Engineering Department, SVIT. The Speaker for the lecture was Dr.Andrey Livchack, who is presently working with Halton R&D center as a Director of Global R&D for the Foodservice division. Dr. Andrey Livchak has over 30 years of international experience in the HVAC industry. His expertise covers several areas including air distribution, heat recovery, cooling, heating systems, acoustics and commercial kitchen ventilation. Dr. Livchak is an active ASHRAE member, has over 50 publications including more than 20 patents.

Prof. Rajaneesh M K, Head of the Department felicitated Dr. Andrey Livchak and introduced the speaker. He welcomed all the delegates to the lecture.

In his lecture Dr. Andrey discussed about Design of energy efficient HVAC systems for foodservice facilities. He also introduced the participants to Identify key factors affecting energy performance of a foodservice facility, Distinguished between different types of demand controlled kitchen ventilation systems. He shared his own experiences while formulating solutions to the problems in kitchens. He also explained the requirements of the ASHRAE 90.1 Standard for commercial kitchen ventilation.
