The Sports Department is headed by Mr. Vijaya Kumar K, B.A, B.P.Ed, M. P.Ed, M.Phil specialized in Athletics, Basketball,Volleyball and Football with experience of over 15 years and Mr.Sreenivasa Prabhu B K,Director of Physical Education specialized with Atheltics, Basket ball,Hand ball, Kabaddi, Judo and Wrestling. The Sports Department serves as a vital and integral part of student's life on campus.

The mission of the department is to provide a broad spectrum of sports, recreation and leisure activities for students, staff and faculty, as well as members of the local community. The primary direction is to provide services and programs that stimulate growth, development and retention of students in a contemporary and safe environment that develops fitness and wellness, social interaction and leadership opportunities. The department ensures students of Sai Vidya Iinstitute of Technology are active, healthy, fit and enlightened individuals by offering an academically sound sports, fitness and health programs

At present Physical Education & Sports Department has all major sports and games with fully loaded equipment and upcoming project of multi gym. Students can take part in individual and group events as per their needs.

• 13th VTU North Zone Table Tennis Tournament 2012-13 (Men and Women), Conducted on 28th February to 29th February 2012
• VTU single Zone Women's Basketball Tournament 2013-2014 - Conducted on 12th to 14th April 2013

Our students have participated in VTU inter collegiate tournaments and competitions like Athletic Meet, Cricket, Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Foot Ball, Kabaddi Throw Ball Table Tennis Badminton, Ball Badminton and VTU Youth Festival and won trophy’s and medals.

1. 2010 - 11 scored 25 points and 79 positions among the 180 VTU engineering colleges.
2. 2011 – 12 scored 36 points and 76 positions among the 190 VTU engineering colleges.
3. 2012 – 13 scored 45 points and 62 positions among the 195 VTU engineering colleges.
4. 2013 – 14 scored 133 points and 36 positions among the 200 VTU engineering colleges.
5. 2014 – 15 scored 209 points and 27 positions among the 209 VTU engineering colleges.

VTU institutional cash award received Rs. 1 lakh for sports achievements for the academic year 2014-15.
